FAO Principals - Withdrawal from Inspections
It has been brought to our attention that the ETI has been informing Boards of Governors that teachers are not complying with the industrial action and that they should go ahead with providing information on safeguarding. This is clearly not the case and as a result we have decided at a recent meeting of NITC to extend our request to all Associate Inspectors to remove themselves from the Inspection process.
We are now asking that if you are in this category you should remove yourself from Inspections until further notice and notify the ETI that this is the case. This includes members of all teaching unions affiliated to NITC (i.e. ATL, INTO, NAHT, NASUWT and UTU). UTU members have already been asked to take this action.
Please note that you are not obliged to do this additional work and therefore you are not in breach of contract and do not require the additional protection of a protective ballot.
We have now re-opened negotiations with the employers regarding pay and workload and it is important that they are aware that teachers are fully supporting the action, particularly our issues with the Inspection process.
If you require any further information regarding this please do not hesitate in contacting your own union for further details.
