The proposed Heads of Agreement outlines measures to reduce teacher workload, addressing concerns raised during consultations. Key provisions include ensuring new initiatives replace existing tasks, preventing mandatory work at home, offering flexibility in Directed Time, and reviewing assessment workloads. A standardized planning approach will also be developed.
The offer includes a 5.5% pay increase with back pay to September 2024. A ‘Yes’ vote will lead to a phased reduction of industrial action, while a ‘No’ vote will result in strikes. The agreement is contingent on approval by all five NITC member unions. The consultation survey is open until 27 March at 12 noon.
